Brie McFarland, PhD, Senior Principal Consultant & Category Specialist for ERA Group, has been working at ERA for the past fourteen years on cost containment projects which included analysis of: medical/dental, pharmaceutical, anddurable medical equipment (DME). In addition, she has worked on reference laboratory, surgical supplies, laboratory supplies, radiology supplies, and orthopedic supplies.
Prior to joining ERA, Brie had a variety of roles at MonsantoCompany in St. Louis. Roles included acting as a liaison between the computer scientists and the biological scientists in their IT department as well as people management roles in the deployment and support department.
She received her PhD from the University Of Connecticut Health Centre in Biomedical Sciences and Structural Biology. Her primary focus was developing a novel insecticide from funnelweb spider venom. She holds numerous patents for her work. She received a BSc in Genetic Engineering from Purdue University.
Her background in biomedical science analysis combined with clinical exposure allows her to helpclients with projects in many areas of healthcare. She has focused on developing analytical methods which maximise high volume savings for healthcare clients.
