Ferry crossings have constituted a significant expenditure for Polar over many years. ERA was commissioned to investigate whether the current ferry service rates could be optimised without compromising on quality and service standards.
The transport specialists at Polar initially believed their ferry service arrangements were optimally managed. 'This was partly due to the limited number of operators serving certain destinations. However, ERA's comprehensive analysis of our crossings and the prevailing costs per provider proved surprising, as did their insightful projections regarding future developments.
